REFUGE FAVS: Recipe (Brownie Trifle) and Game (GROG-thanks to "egad!" ideas)

Brownie Trifle

This easy and delicious recipe is the favourite at REFUGE. Try it today!
What you need:

  • 1 pkg brownie mix (or you can make your own favourite batch of brownies)
  • 1 pkg instant chocolate pudding (the kind you mix with milk &ready in 2 minutes)
  • 500ml container of whipping cream (beat with electric mixer until it peaks)
What to do:
  • Bake your brownies according to package.
  • Let cool. Cut your brownies into bite-sized pieces. Set aside.
  • Mix your pudding according to package.
  • In a 2L glass bowl layer 1/3 of pudding. Then ½ of your brownie pieces. Another layer of pudding. The other ½ of your brownie bites. Then all the pudding you have left. Top with whip cream.
  • Refrigerate at least 1 hour and Enjoy!

The Grog is coming!

GROG!

Everyone waits in a room while one person hides the four pieces of a flashlight (2 batteries, light and case) around the church in relatively plain sight. Then turn off the lights. Have 2 youth volunteer to be IT. They will be “THE GROG”.

The object of the game is for the non-Grog teens to work together and reassemble the flashlight, and then shine it in The Grog's eyes, rendering The Grog OUT. When both Grogs are OUT, the game is over.

The catch is if a Grog touches a non-Grog on the shoulder the non-Grog must scream as loud as possible and fall down, dead. They can be revived if touched by another non-Grog, and they don't have to relinquish any flashlight pieces they might have in their possession.

O.R.B.I.T.—Out Reaching Beyond In Truth

This is our missions program. Each year we do 2 or 3 projects that help people around us. In 2007:
  • We hosted a Senior's Appreciation Night for the Seniors in the congregation of 2nd North River Baptist Church to let them know that we are genuinely grateful for their support both in prayer and financially.
  • We also raised funds and awareness for the fair trade market for the farmers and workers in the coffee and tea industry by serving coffee and snacks between Sunday School and Church in October.
  • October 4th we did a food bank scavenger hunt to fill the food bank at our church and got 78 articles of food.

1 Timothy 4:12 "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."
